LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama
women's basketball team took an early lead and trailed by just nine
at intermission but was outscored 46-27 in the second half in a
77-49 Gulf South Conference road loss to West Alabama.
The loss drops UNA to 11-12 overall and 4-4 in the GSC with four
games to play. West Alabama improved to 10-12 and 5-2. UNA trailed
31-22 at the half and could muster only 27 points over the final 20
minutes. The Lions shot just 39 percent from the floor and had 28
turnovers in the loss. Shay Ashford led three UNA players in
double-figures with 13. Amber Rutherford andTandra Inmon added 10
each. Valerie Harris led West Alabama with 16 points.
UNA hosts Valdosta State on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Flowers Hall. It
will be "Think Pink" day at UNA in honor of breast cancer awareness
and all Lion fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
