HUNTSVILLE - North Alabama had four players reach double
digits in scoring, but could not overcome a seven-point half-time
deficit during a 71-67 road loss to Alabama-Huntsville Saturday in
Gulf South Conference action.
The loss drops
the Lions' overall record to 11-14 with a 4-6 showing in GSC play.
UAH improves to 12-14, 4-7.
Chelsey Malone
led UNA with 14 points on the night, while Tandra Inmon chipped in
13 for the Lions. Amber Rutherford added 12 points and Shay Ashford
also reached double digits with 11. The Chargers' Ashley Boykin led
all scorers with 22 points, including three three-pointers and an
11-of-12 showing from the free throw line.
UNA raced out
to an early 6-0 lead before the home team responded in the closing
minutes of the first half. UAH put together a 16-2 run and took a
28-21 lead into the locker room.
The Chargers
led by as many as 12 in the second half and never trailed. The Lions
were able to tie the game at 60-60 with 1:56 remaining, but could
never take the lead.
UNA will close
the regular season on Feb. 26 with a home game against West Georgia.
Tip-off time is set for 6 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
