FLORENCE – Three players reached double digits in scoring
as the University of North Alabama women’s basketball team overcame
32 turnovers to defeat Mid-Continent 71-51 Wednesday evening at
Flowers Hall.
Danae Lawrence
and Shay Ashford scored 11 points each while Brittany Godsey added
10 as the Lions improved to 3-4 on the season.
UNA led 38-27
at the half, but committed 23 turnovers over the final 20 minutes of
play. The Lions had 11 players score on the night and shot 38
percent from the floor. The Cougars turned the ball over 37 times
and shot just 34 percent from the floor, including an 0-for-9
showing from three-point range in the second half.
The Lions will
play at Christian Brothers on Saturday, Dec. 8. Tip-off is set for 3
p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.
