FLORENCE – Four players have signed national letters of
intent during the NCAA early signing period for the University of
North Alabama women’s basketball team. Head coach Terry Fowler has
announced that Dana Jackson, Lacy Lewis, Jessi Smith and Kristin
White will all join the Lion team after completing their senior year
of high school.
“We are
extremely excited about the potential that these student-athletes
have,” said Fowler. “These four are each big time competitors who
bring a lot of size and skill to every position. They also all come
from winning high school programs and will be given the opportunity
to compete right away.”
Jackson, a 5-10
guard from Franklin County High School in Winchester, Tenn., is
averaging nearly 24 points per game as a senior. She is also pulling
down 6.5 rebounds per contest and just passed the 1,000-point total
for her career.
Lewis, a 5-11
guard from Fyffe High School in Fyffe, Ala., is the reigning DeKalb
County Player of the Year. She is currently averaging 21
points and seven rebounds per game.
Smith is a 5-10
guard who helped lead Hartselle High School to the Northwest
Regional Championship in 2007. She is a 2007 all-county, all-area
and all-regional selection and averages 13 points and 6.2 rebounds
per game.
As a junior,
White was named the Northeast Regional MVP after leading Pisgah High
School to the region title and a runner-up finish in the Class 3A
State Championships. The 6-1 forward is averaging 16.3 points and
7.2 rebounds per contest. |
