HUNTSVILLE
– The University of North Alabama
women’s basketball team got back on
track in the Gulf South Conference in a
big way Saturday evening in a big way by
routing in-state rival
Alabama-Huntsville 91-68 on the Lady
Chargers’ home floor. Led by freshman
Dana Jackson’s career-high 25 points,
the Lions improved to 10-10 overall with
a 3-2 record in GSC play. With the loss,
UAH fell to 5-15, 1-4.
As a team, the Lions hit 11 three-point
baskets in the first half to build a
45-26 lead. UNA finished with 15
three-pointers, two shy of a school
record set earlier this year. In the
second half, UAH was never able to get
the lead under double digits while the
Lions led by as many as 26 points.
Jackson, a freshman from Winchester,
Tenn., went 3-for-7 from three-point
range. Amber Rutherford added 16 points
for the Lions while Ashley Moore and
Jameica York tossed in 12 points each.
The Loins will be off for one week
before traveling to Carrollton, Ga.,
next Saturday for another GSC road
match-up against West Georgia.
