– The University of
North Alabama women’s
basketball team could
not hold on to a
seven-point lead at the
half as No. 24 Arkansas
Tech rallied for a 75-66
victory over the Lions
Saturday afternoon at
Flowers Hall. The Golden
Suns used a 16-0 run
midway through the
second period to take
control and remain
perfect at 9-0 on the
season. With the loss,
UNA falls to 4-8 on the
year.
The Lions held a 51-48
lead at the 12:15 mark
before the scoring
drought hit. After the
ATU run made the score
64-51 with 6:12
remaining, a three-point
basket by Dana Jackson
ended the drought, but
the Lions would get no
closer than eight points
the rest of the way.
Jackson finished with 16
points to lead UNA. Lacy
Lewis added 12 points on
the day. Arkansas Tech
was led by Jenny
Vining’s 35 points. The
junior from Marshall,
Ark., hit a school
record nine
three-pointers in the
victory.
UNA led by as many as 10
in the opening 20
minutes and took a 42-35
lead into the half.
The Lions will host
Harding Monday with
tip-off set for 8 p.m.
at Flowers Hall.
