– Christian Brothers broke
open a close game midway
through the second half to
pull away for a 69-48
victory over North Alabama
Saturday afternoon in
women’s basketball action.
Four players reached double
digit s in scoring as the
Lady Bucs closed the game on
a 32-13 run to improve to
4-1 on the season. With the
loss, UNA drops to 3-5 for
the year.
With Christian Brothers
leading 37-35 at the 12:21
mark, the Lady Bucs used
baskets from four different
players to take a 49-39 lead
and UNA was never able to
get the deficit back to
single digits. CBU’s
Normanique Johnson led four
players in double figures
with a game-high 16 points.
The Lions were led by
Sanqueeta Meardith’s 13
points on the day.
In the first half, UNA was
was 7-of-30 from the field
and trailed 29-22 at the
break. UNA closed the gap to
two points on different
occasions over the final 20
minutes but could never take
the lead.
The Lions will continue
their road swing against
Gulf South Conference West
Division teams on Monday
against Delta State. Tip-off
is set for 6 p.m. at Walter
Sillers Coliseum on the DSU
campus.
