Lions picked up a 77-59
home victory over
Georgia Southwestern
Saturday afternoon at
Flowers Hall. UNA (4-6)
trailed 37-34 at the
half, but shot 50
percent from the floor
over the final 20
minutes to rally for the
win.
Lewis, a sophomore from
Fyffe, Ala., reaches the
19-point total for the
second time on the year
to match a career high.
She also turned in a
game-high 15 rebounds to
complete her first
career double-double.
She was the lone bright
spot on the boards for
UNA as the Hurricanes
held a 54-48 edge in
rebounding.
After trailing by three
at the break, North
Alabama also turned up
the defensive pressure
in the second stanza.
The Lions limited GSW to
only seven field goals
in second half. The
Hurricanes were only
2-of-18 from three-point
range and failed to
connect from long range
after half-time.
Sanqueeta Meardith added
14 points for UNA while
Kierra McCleary scored
12 points for the game.
Jameica York and Niala
Harris also tossed in 11
points each.
Georgia Southwestern
(3-4) was led by
Brittany Reynolds’
game-high 24 points.
The Lions will hit the
road for its next
contest, facing Southern
Indiana on Wednesday.
