– Dana Jackson hit four
three-point baskets and
scored a game-high 22
points to lead the
University of North
Alabama women’s
basketball team to a
75-61 win over Harding
Monday evening at
Flowers Hall. The UNA
victory snapped a
seven-game winning
streak by Harding (7-5)
and ended a two-game
skid for the Lions, who
enter the Christmas
break with a 5-8 record.
Jackson had 12 points at
the half, but the two
teams entered the locker
room tied at 34-34.
The Lions used a strong
defensive effort in the
second half to secure
the win. Harding
committed 21 of its 33
turnovers in the final
20 minutes of play.
North Alabama was able
to convert the Bisons’
miscues into 33 points,
and added 11
second-chance points on
the night. The UNA bench
also outscored its
Harding counterparts
32-13 for the game.
Niala Harris also
reached double figures
in scoring for the Lions
with 14 points while
Sequoyah Cliff also
added a trio of
three-pointers and
finished with a
career-high 11 points.
Harding was led by
Elizabeth Nagel’s
16-point effort.
UNA will hit the road
for its next two outings
against more teams from
the Gulf South
Conference West
Division. The Lions will
play at
Arkansas-Monticello next
Saturday, Jan. 2, before
traveling to Southern
Arkansas on Monday, Jan.
