– Lambuth connected
on eight three-point
baskets in the
second half to rally
for an 82-71 victory
over the University
of North Alabama
women’s basketball
team Thursday
evening at the
Athletic Center on
the LU campus. UNA
led 34-32 at the
half, but suffered a
six-minute scoring
drought while the
host Lady Eagles
took control. With
the loss, the Lions
fall to 11-11 on the
season. Lambuth
improves to 15-7 on
the season.
Lambuth’s Ashley
Franklin led the
three-point charge
with 25 points for
the Lady Eagles.
After hitting only
one three-pointer in
the first half, the
sophomore went
5-of-6 from long
range over the final
20 minutes of play.
North Alabama had
trouble scoring
early in the second
half. After a
three-pointer by
Jameica York gave
the Lions a 42-41
lead with 17:43
remaining, UNA would
not score again
until the 11:42
mark. By the time
Sequoyah Cliff made
a layup to end the
drought, Lambuth had
a 54-44 lead and
never trailed again.
York had 13 points
to lead UNA while
Cliff added 12
points and six
rebounds.
The Lions will
return home on
Saturday to take on
Talladega College.
