HUNTSVILLE
– The University of
North Alabama
women’s basketball
team overcame a poor
first-half shooting
performance to pick
up another Gulf
South Conference
road victory
Saturday evening
with a 56-49 win at
Alabama-Huntsville.
The second straight
road GSC win gives
UNA a 9-10 overall
record with a 3-1
mark in league play.
With the loss, UAH
falls to 3-12, 0-2.
The Lions shot just
15.6 percent from

first half,
including an 0-13
showing from
three-point range.
UAH closed the half
on an 8-1 run to
take a 24-13 lead at
the break.
It didn’t take long
for North Alabama to
answer in the second
half. The Lions
opened the second
period with 13
straight points to
take a 26-24 lead.
From there, the two
teams traded baskets
and lead changes
until a layup by
Brianna Abrams put
UNA on top 34-33
with 9:45 remaining.
The Chargers failed
to score on their
ensuing possession
and when a
three-pointer by
Lacy Lewis gave the
Lions a 37-33 lead,
UNA never trailed
again.
Niala Harris led UNA
with 13 points and
11 rebounds. Dana
Jackson added 11
points while Jameica
York tossed in 10 on
the night. The Lions
held a 52-43 edge in
rebounding and also
had the advantage in
second-chance points
(20-15), points off
turnovers (19-17),
points in the paint
(24-14) and
fast-break points
(6-0).
North Alabama will
travel to Pensacola,
Fla., for its next

Florida Wednesday
with tip-off set for
