points and pulled down nine
rebounds as the University
of North Alabama women’s
basketball team recorded its
third straight Gulf South
Conference road victory with
a 60-50 triumph at West
Florida Wednesday evening.
The 10-point win puts the
Lions in second place in the GSC East Division standings
at the half-way point of
the conference schedule.
After dropping a 76-60 home
game to Valdosta State on
Jan. 10, the Lions have gone
on the road three straight
times, knocking off West
Alabama, Alabama-Huntsville
and now West Florida to
improve to 10-10 overall
with a 4-1 conference
record.
On Wednesday, UNA led by as
many as seven in the opening
half before taking a 27-24
lead at the break. West
Florida scored the first
three points of the second
half to tie the game, but
could never take the lead
over the final 20 minutes.
The Lions scored nine
straight points to regain
the lead and the momentum
and UWF had no answer.
Lacy Lewis added 10 points
while seven other North
Alabama players also scored
on the night.
UNA will return to Flowers
Hall on Saturday for its
first home game in two
weeks. The Lions are set to
take on Concordia-Selma with
tip-off set for 1 p.m.
