Doris "D.J." Jones earned All-Gulf South Conference honors in both volleyball and softball at UNA while helping lead the Lions to three Gulf South Conference Championships. A Houston, Texas, native, Jones was a three-year standout in volleyball at UNA from 1982-84 and was also a two-year starter in softball in 1983 and 1984. In volleyball, she was selected All-Gulf South Conference in 1982, 1983  and 1984, becoming the first female athlete in school history to be selected All-GSC three years in a row. She was also an All-GSC Tournament selection in 1984 and helped lead UNA to GSC championships in 1982 and 1984. UNA had a 91-29 record during her three years in the volleyball program. She was  team MVP three straight years and received the Offense award in 1982, the Offense and Defense awards in 1983 and the Defense award in 1984. At the end of her career, Coach Ande Jones retired her jersey. Jones was also selected All-Gulf South Conference in softball in 1984. She lettered two years in softball and helped UNA win the 1983 GSC Championship. She is one of just five UNA athletes to ever be named All-GSC in two different sports.
