PENSACOLA, Fla. -- After taking a 2-1 lead late in the first half, the University of North Alabama couldn't hold on as the Lions dropped a 3-2 decision in women's soccer to West Florida.

UNA's Chloe Richards scored two goals to give the Lions the lead but the second goal by UWF's Amber Pennybaker gave the Lady Argonauts' the game w-inner.

With the loss UNA falls to 9-2-1 overall and 5-2 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida is now 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the GSC.

Richards scored the first goal of the match unassisted in the third minute to put UNA on top just 2:45 into the match.

Pennybaker had the equalizer at the 36:49 mark to make it 1-1 but Richards responded just over three minutes later with her second goal to put UNA back on top 2-1.

West Florida's Svenja Burkhardt scored in the 67th minute to tie the match and Pennybaker's goal at 81:09 gave UWF the win.

North Alabama was out-shot 32-12 by West Florida and UNA goalkeeper Shelby Thornton recorded nine saves.

UNA hosts Christian Brothers on Friday (Oct. 16) at the UNA Soccer Field at 7 p.m.
