CARROLLTON, Ga., – Strong serving paved the way for the University of North Alabama volleyball team in a 3-0 sweep at West Georgia Tuesday evening. The Lions recorded 16 service aces in a 25-9, 25-17, 25-12 road victory to improve to 17-6 overall and 10-2 in Gulf South Conference play.
Lexie Bradley and Ashtyn Kapovich had six aces each, helping producing a total that was one shy of a season high. UNA aced Mississippi College 17 times during a 3-0 road win earlier in the year. On Tuesday, the Lions needed just over an hour to get the win and complete the season sweep over UWG.
Victoria Quintanilla and Natasha Fomina had eight kills each to lead UNA. Jessica Austin added six kills while Peyton Lang had five kills and a team-high .444 hitting percentage. Bradley, who currently leads the GSC with 78 service aces, added three kills, five digs and two blocks for the match while Kapovich had eight digs and recorded all six of her aces in the third set. Lang led the way with nine digs on the night.
UNA will play at Lee Friday at 7 p.m. (EST) before traveling to Shorter the following day for a 2 p.m. (EST) match against the Hawks.
