LANE RALLIES FOR OT WIN OVER UNA MEN

FLORENCE – After trailing by as many as 10 in the second half, Lane College rallied to tie the game at the end of regulation, then outscored the University of North Alabama men's basketball team 17-13 in the extra period to record an 82-78 win Saturday night at Flowers Hall. The first loss of the season gives UNA a 3-1 record on the year.
 
Free throw shooting hurt the Lions, who hit just 14-of-27 attempts in the game. UNA also shot 39 percent from the floor, including an 8-of-25 showing from three-point range.
 
A three-pointer by Austin Timms gave UNA a 63-57 with less than three minutes to play. The Lions, however, were 1-for-6 from the floor down the stretch while the Dragons rallied to tie the game at 65-65 at the end of regulation.
 
In overtime, UNA took an early 67-65 lead on a pair of free throws by Timms. Lane, howver, scored five straight points to take the lead for good. The Dragons were 5-for-7 from the floor in the extra period while UNA went 5-of-11.
 
The Lions led by as many as 13 in the first half and 10 over the final 20 minutes of play. A three-pointer by Timms at the 9:58 mark gave UNA a 55-45 lead.
 
Timms led North Alabama with 25 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Jeff Hodge added 20 points while Dimario Jackson added 10 points.
 
Lane (3-3) was led by Maurice Alexander's 21 points and Kendarius Ash's 15 points and 19 rebounds.
 
UNA will host Miles College on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
