NORTH ALABAMA MEN FALL AT INDIANA

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., – North Alabama went without a field goal for more than five minutes in the second half while Indiana stretched a nine-point lead to 20 en route to a 91-65 home win Tuesday evening at Assembly Hall. The loss leaves the UNA men's basketball team with a 1-2 record on the season.
 
UNA trailed 47-40 at the half, and faced a 54-45 deficit at the 15:46 mark when the Hoosiers made their move.  A dunk by Trayce Jackson-Davis started the 11-0 run that stretched the home team's lead to 65-45 midway through the second half. UNA missed its next five shots from the floor and had three turnovers during the run as Indiana grabbed control.
 
The Hoosiers led by as many as 27 in the second half. After hitting more than half of its shots in the first 20 minutes, UNA shot 27.8 percent from the floor after the break.
 
Jamari Blackmon led North Alabama with 19 points. The sophomore from Hoover hit his first four three-point attempts and also added five free throws. C.J. Brim and Christian Agnew added 11 points each.
 
Indiana took a 47-40 lead into the break. Three-point shooting kept the Lions within striking distance as UNA connected on 7-of-10 attempts from long range in the opening 20 minutes of play.
 
The Hoosiers went the first 4:24 without a field goal, but were able to get to the free throw line. In the first half, Indiana was called for nine fouls to UNA's 16. The home team took advantage, going 17-of-20 from the foul line.
 
After a basket by Mervin James cut the Indiana lead to 31-30, the Hoosiers used a 10-1 run to stretch the lead to double digits for the first time. The largest lead came with 1:56 remaining when a three-pointer gave Indiana a 46-33 lead.
 
UNA answered with a 7-1 run of its own, beginning with a trey by Peyton Youngblood. Blackmon and Brim each hit two free throws down the stretch. The Lions got a turnover in the closing seconds but a blocked shot at the buzzer kept the lead at seven. Indiana had five blocks in the first half and finished the game with nine.
 
North Alabama finished the game with 31 fouls, leading to a 37-of-45 showing by the home team at the free throw line.  James, Agnew and Emanuel Littles all fouled out. Littles led the Lions with five rebounds.
 
Jackson-Davis led Indiana (3-0) with 20 points. Four other Hoosiers reached double figures in scoring.
 
UNA will return home to face Samford on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
