BEACH VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS JSU IN FIRST HOME MATCHES

 
FLORENCE – North Alabama recorded a pair of victories in its first-ever home beach volleyball matches Saturday at the UNA sand courts. The Lions swept Jacksonville State 3-2 and 4-1 in an ASUN Conference dual. The sweep evens UNA's record at 7-7 on the year with a 3-1 start to ASUN play.
 
In the first match, the two teams split the first four matchups, setting up a winner-take-all match at the No. 3 position. Sina Faulk and Catie Ladner rallied from an opening set loss to post a 10-21, 22-20, 15-12 victory to clinch the match.
 
UNA took control early in the second match. The Lions won in straight sets at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots before Sophia Branstetter and Paula Klemperer clinched the match with a 14-21, 21-14, 15-8 victory at the top spot.
 
JSU added a win at No. 2 before Faulk and Ladner recorded another three-set victory at the No. 3 spot. For the day, four of the 10 matches went to a third set.
 
UNA will host UT-Martin on Friday. The teams will play twice, beginning at 11 a.m.
