LIONS POST 3-1 VOLLEYBALL WIN AT JACKSONVILLE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., – After falling in the opening set at Jacksonville, the University of North Alabama volleyball team rallied with three straight wins to post a 24-26, 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 victory Saturday in the second day of the ASUN Crossover. With the win, UNA improves to 8-15 overall and 2-8 league play.
 
In the opening set, Jacksonville rallied from a 22-18 deficit to get the win. Katy Floyd had four kills in the first frame, but the Dolphins had six service aces while UNA served up seven errors.
 
UNA again held a late lead in the second set. The Lions, this time, held off JU for the 25-22 victory to even the match.
 
North Alabama grabbed the overall lead with a 25-16 win in the third set. The Lions led by double-digits at 14-4 and maintained at least an eight-point advantage the rest of the way.
 
Kamryn Parsonage led the way with six kills in the fourth set. The sophomore from Cypress, Calif., hit .313 on the day and finished with a match-high 14 kills, including the final one at match point.
 
For the match, UNA totaled nine blocks, with five different players recording at least three block assists. Mattrice Harris had four block assists and a block solo on the day.
 
AK Griggs added 11 kills and four blocks, while, Floyd had 11 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Breylee Linder also totaled 34 assists. Katie Gerig also led all players with 13 digs.
 
UNA will wrap up play at the crossover on Sunday against Liberty. Match time is set for 2 p.m. (CST) at JU's Swisher Gymnasium.
