VOLLEYBALL LIONS WIN FIVE-SET THRILLER AT JACKSONVILLE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., – The University of North Alabama volleyball team picked up a key ASUN Conference road with win a 3-2 victory at Jacksonville on Friday. Anna Katherine Griggs and Hayley Martin combined for 28 kills in the 11-25, 25-15, 25-20, 19-25, 18-16 win. UNA is now 12-5 on the season with a 2-3 mark in ASUN play.
 
The match featured back-and-forth momentum swings throughout. After Jacksonville dominated the opening set, the Lions posted two wins to take control. A 25-19 win by the home team, however, forced a fifth set. In the final frame, each team fought of multiple match points before UNA secured the 18-16 win on a JU attack error.
 
Griggs led UNA with 15 kills. The senior from Arab also had three blocks, an assist and two digs on the night. Martin added 13 kills while Elif Ozsoy recorded a double-double with 47 assists and 20 digs.
 
North Alabama libero Ella Ratzloff also had 20 digs for the Lions. Taylor Floyd recorded nine kills and 13 digs while Eli Ford also reached double figures with 10 digs on the night.
 
UNA will remain on the Jacksonville campus to play North Florida on Sunday. The two teams will meet at 10 a.m. (CST) at JU's Swisher Gymnasium.
