LIONS RELEASE 2023 SOFTBALL SCHEDULE

Season Tickets, Single-Game Tickets now On Sale

FLORENCE – Coming off a 40-20 campaign from a year ago, the University of North Alabama softball team will play teams from six different conferences in the upcoming season. UNA head softball coach Ashley Cozart has released the 2023 schedule, which includes 16 home dates and is highlighted by a visit from Alabama on March 14.
 
"I am really excited about our 2023 schedule and getting this new team on the field," said Cozart, who begins her 10th season with the Lions. "We will have lots of the same in-state rivalry games as well as some new opponents and tournaments we have not had in the past. I am most excited about playing at home early in the season as we host a couple teams for opening weekend and then again in the beginning of March. We also have a big home stretch where we host Samford, Central Arkansas, Alabama A&M, and Eastern Kentucky."
 
UNA will open the season on Feb. 11 at home. The Lions will host Mississippi Valley State in a three-game series at the Hilda B. Anderson Softball Complex. The two teams will play a double-header on opening day, with a single game scheduled for the following day.
 
Other non-conference visitors to Florence include Western Michigan (March 4-5), Samford (March 22), Alabama A&M (March 28), UT-Martin (May 3) and Alabama (March 14). "The most exciting game on our schedule will definitely be March 14th when we host Alabama," added Cozart. "We are hoping for a huge crowd and a special day for our team."
 
The game against the Crimson Tide is presented by Buffalo Wild Wings and will be played at the Florence Sportsplex. The event will be broadcast on the ESPN+ Network.
 
UNA will begin ASUN Conference play on March 18, when the Lions begin a three-game series at Jacksonville State. ASUN teams to visit Florence this season include Central Arkansas (March 24, 25 & 26), Eastern Kentucky (April 1-2), North Florida (April 15-16) and Queens (April 29-30). The 2023 ASUN Conference Tournament will be held May 9-13 in DeLand, Fla.
 
Season Tickets are now available for sale online or at the UNA ticket office. Single-game tickets for the Alabama game, along with a parking pass at the Sportsplex can also be purchased online. The Alabama game is not included in the season ticket package. However, season ticket holders will receive a $10 discount to the event.
