UNA AMONG ASUN ACADEMIC LEADERS

ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of North Alabama's 2021-22 academic school year featured more than 75 percent of its student-athletes competing in ASUN Conference play claim honor roll accolades. The percentage ranked fifth in the league's 12 schools.

For the year, 156 of UNA's 207 ASUN student-athletes recorded at least a 3.0 grade point average, giving the Lions a 75.36 percentage. Football was not included in the final ASUN numbers because it participated in the Big South Conference.

Lipscomb led the ASUN at 88.97 percent. Bellarmine (82.32 percent) was second, followed by North Florida (81.12 percent) and Jacksonville (80.60 percent).

UNA also had 18 student-athletes receive academic ASUN Honors, which required graduation with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA over the previous two semesters. Earning academic ASUN Honors for the Lions were Payton Youngblood (men's basketball), Patrycja Jaworska, Tiahna Sears and Julia Strachan (women's basketball), Catie Ladner, Maya Dickson and Paula Klemperer (beach volleyball), Emily Lankford (women's golf), Morgan Ebert, Grace Lensing and Charlotte Kellett (soccer), Gabriela Cevallos Gonzalez, Megan Humphreys and Sydney Flesch (women's tennis), Lexie Harper (softball) and Drew Hudson, Johnathan Lundgren and Austin Thrasher (baseball).

In the 22nd year of the ASUN Honor Roll, the 2021-22 season marked the fifth time in the last six countable seasons in which 70% or more of student-athletes collected Honor Roll status with 70.01 percent hitting the mark. Seven ASUN institutions registered at least 70 percent of their student-athletes on the Honor Roll with five boasting over 75 percent highlighted by four at over 80 percent.

In total, across the 12 schools in the ASUN, there were 2,521 student-athletes who landed on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
