FLORENCE, Ala. (October 25, 2023) – The University of North Alabama Department of Athletics announced a new spotlight last month featuring local student-athletes with ties to the Shoals area titled "Homegrown Series" presented by First Southern Bank.

The second student-athlete to be featured in the Homegrown Series is North Alabama soccer freshman Olivia Patterson. The first year Lion played just down the road at Florence High School, where she won numerous awards such as Florence High School MVP and Florence High School Offensive Player of the Year for 2022 and 2023. She also broke the school record for goals in a season with 35. Patterson also graduated Top 20 in her class at Florence.
