FLORENCE, Ala. (August 7, 2023) – The University of North Alabama football team completed practice on Monday morning, just before inclement weather hit the Shoals area. This week's UNA football notebook spotlights the wide receivers.
The Lions currently have 18 wide receivers listed on the roster, including eight players that saw action in 2022 and a pair of Phil Steele All-ASUN selections in redshirt senior
Takairee Kenebrew and sophomore
Demarcus Lacey, who combined for 15 of the team's 20 receiving touchdowns last season.
This group is coached by first year UNA assistant coach
Samie Parker, who was a standout receiver and track athlete at Oregon from 2000-03 and later spent four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs after being selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft.
"I think we have a good variety of guys — young and old —that will be able to help us out this year," said Parker. "I'm looking forward to seeing the progress we'll have moving forward. Consistency is probably going to be our biggest thing — being consistent in catching the ball and eliminating the mental errors. But overall, we have a lot of playmaking ability on our side."
Today's interviews include Coach Parker, Kenebrew and redshirt junior
Kobe Warden, a local product by way of Brooks High School.
