HOOVER, Ala. (September 17, 2023) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team is scheduled to play in their first tournament of the season beginning on Monday, Sept. 18 before concluding play on Sept. 19 at the Hoover Invitational in Hoover, Ala. at the Hoover Country Club.

NOTES
Year Six: Neil Self is entering his sixth season at the helm of the North Alabama women's golf program. Self is the only head coach in school history, having led the program since its first season in 2018-19. Self helped lead the Lions to the highest team finish in school history last season, placing second in the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate. 2022-23 also saw the Lions' second individual tournament win in program history when
Jackie Klemm tied for first in the same tournament.
Familiar Faces: Five of the six golfers on the North Alabama women's golf roster were featured on the Lions' roster in 2022-23.

Hannah Dees,
Kerigan Klauber and
Tori Roush were all members of the Lions squad last season. Gan, Dees and Prakhya all played in a match for the Lions in 2022-23 while Roush appeared for the Lions in both 2020-21 and 2021-22. Klauber Redshirted last season and would see her first action this season alongside University of South Carolina Beaufort transfer
Cassie Tasney.
Sweet Home Alabama: Five of the Lions' 10 tournaments this season will take place without the team having to leave the state. The Hoover Invitational, Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, Chris Banister Golf Classic, Bama Beach Bash and 2024 ASUN Women's Golf Championship all take place in Alabama. Three of the five matches will take place at a Robert Trent Jones course, with the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate and the ASUN Championship both taking place at RTJ Hampton Cove and the Chris Banister Golf Classic being played at RTJ Silver Lakes.
Florence to Birmingham: The Hoover Invitational will be the third time that the University of North Alabama women's golf team has participated in a tournament hosted by UAB. The team played in the UAB Hoover Invitational last season, where the Lions placed seventh, one spot ahead of the Blazers. The Lions' top finisher in the 2022 rendition of the Hoover Classic was
Jackie Klemm, who tied for sixth place. The Lions are scheduled to participate in the Bama Beach Bash on March 17-19 hosted by UAB in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Run It Back: Six of the tournaments on the Lions' 2023-24 schedule were also featured in 2022-23. North Alabama will play in the Hoover Invitational, APSU Intercollegiate, Lady Red Wolves Classic, Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, Bama Beach Bash and Lady Bison Classic for another season. UNA has also played in the Chris Banister Golf Classic on two occasions prior to the 2023-24 season.
