North Alabama finishes ninth of 16 teams

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (March 6, 2024) – Allycia Gan notched her fourth consecutive top 10 finish, tying for seventh place in the Huntsville.org intercollegiate hosted by Samford on Wednesday.

North Alabama placed ninth out of 16 teams in the tournament hosted at RTJ Hampton Cove in Huntsville, Ala. — also the site of the 2024 ASUN Women's Golf Championship.
North Alabama wrapped up the first round of play tied for fourth place with a 298, before poor weather conditions put a damper on day two. UNA finished the tournament with rounds of 298, 316 and 306 for a 920 total and a ninth place finish. ASUN foe Lipscomb took home the tournament crown with an 878 total, a 28-stroke lead over second place Troy. Third place Oakland was followed by Jacksonville, Austin Peay, Tennessee Tech, Samford, Belmont and UNA. North Alabama edged the rest of the competition, including Albany, Bellarmine, Southern Illinois, Central Michigan, Lindenwood, Southern Indiana and Alabama State.
For the fourth consecutive tournament, senior Allycia Gan finished inside of the top 10 golfers. Gan used rounds of 70, 77 and 76 to close out the Huntsville.org intercollegiate tied for seventh place. Tori Roush jumped 10 spots with a team best third round of 75, tying her for 24th place with a 231. Jahnavi Prakhya and Hannah Dees each closed out the tournament tied for 34th with 233 totals while redshirt freshman Kerigan Klauber placed 68th with a 253.

In the third round, all five UNA golfers birdied on the ninth hole before turning to the back nine. Gan, Roush and Dees each picked up three birdies on the third day of the tournament, giving the Lions the second-most out of any team with 34, trailing just tournament champion Lipscomb. Gan led all individual golfers in the tournament with 11 birdies of her own.

North Alabama returns to action on Sunday, March 10 with the Chris Banister Golf Classic hosted  by Jacksonville State at RTJ Silver Lakes in Gadsden, Ala.
