FCS Kickoff announces ESPN designation and time

Lions to face SEMO at 6 p.m. on ESPN

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (May 30, 2024) – The University of North Alabama learned kickoff times for two of its football games this week, including the season opener 85 days away against Southeast Missouri State that will air on national television.

For a second straight season, UNA will play in the FCS Kickoff at the historic Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala. The Lions and Redhawks will kickoff at Saturday, August 24 at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

This will be the first prime-time college football game of the 2024 season.

UNA is one of just 16 teams to play in the FCS Kickoff, which began in the 2014 season. The game has been played in Montgomery since 2017, making this season the seventh FCS Kickoff hosted in the Cramton Bowl.

Last season, UNA took on Mercer in a competitive bout that aired on both ESPN and ESPNU. The Bears, who finished nationally ranked in both FCS polls and advanced to the second round of the FCS playoffs, won 17-7. This game was not the only nationally-televised game for UNA, as the Lions also battled No. 4 Florida State on The CW and garnered over 1.3 million viewers for the highest primetime viewing on CW's network in over six years.

UNA has an all-time record of 32-21 in 54 televised games since 1980. This does not include games on ESPN+ or ESPN3.

The Lions also learned its kickoff time for their Sept. 14 game at UT Martin, which will also begin at 6 p.m. All other kickoff times will be announced at a later date.
