JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (August 21, 2024) – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced the 2024 Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll on Wednesday, with North Alabama being voted fourth by the league's 12 head coaches.
The rank marks a milestone in the program's seven years in the conference, as it makes it the highest coaches poll ranking in UNA's Division I era. UNA's previous highest ranking was eighth, a mark they were voted twice prior to the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
The Lions are coming off one of their most successful seasons in the Division I era, finishing with the most wins in the Division I era, as well as the most conference victories. North Alabama had the most weekly ASUN honors in program history with seven total, while also celebrating the first-ever ASUN first and third team all-conference players in former standouts Anna Katherine Griggs and Maggie Sullivan.
The historic season also culminated in the Lions' first postseason trip to the ASUN Tournament, facing Kennesaw State in the opening round.
UNA Head Volleyball Coach Tristan Johnson looks to lead the team to greater heights in 2024, led by seniors Brenna Tietz, Katy Floyd and Elif Ozsoy, as well as graduate transfer, Jasmine Brooks.
Key contributors such as junior Hayley Martin and sophomores Olivia Fenoff, Nicole Sargent and Meredith Brown also look to impact the 2024 season as part of a team that returned 47 percent of 2023 contributions.
With the regular season beginning in nine days, UNA prepares to open the season at the War Eagle Invitational on Friday, August 30, where the Lions will face Auburn at 10 a.m.
