FLORENCE, Ala. (November 10, 2025) – On Monday, the United Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards for games on Nov. 8, naming University of North Alabama redshirt freshman
Azariah Fletcher as the UAC Freshman of the Week.
Fletcher made his first career catch a memorable one on Saturday, scoring on a 75-yard touchdown pass from redshirt sophomore
Destin Wade against West Georgia at Braly Stadium. Wade launched it to Fletcher at the opponent 40-yard line, and Fletcher shook off the only defender in his way for the score.
The former Hartselle High School standout also fielded punts for the Lions on Saturday, returning one for 12 yards.
This is the first weekly award for Fletcher.
UNA has won 10 UAC Freshman of the Week awards since the league's first season in 2023. This ranks as the most by any team in the conference.
Jalen Fletcher and
Josh Anglin won the award three time apiece.
Jyheam Ingram,
Fred Vili and
Noah Gregg have won it once.
Five of the six UAC Freshman of the Week winners are still with the Lions in 2025.
This marks the fourth weekly award for UNA this season. Redshirt junior kicker
Ian Vachon was named the UAC Specialist of the Week in September, while Gregg won UAC Freshman of the Week and
Jayvian Allen won UAC Offensive Player of the Week in October.
The Lions are back in action at No. 6 Tarleton State this Saturday at 6 p.m.
