NASHVILLE (November 18, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team faces Tennessee State in non-conference action on Wednesday, Nov. 19 in Nashville, Tenn.
The Lions looks to secure their first road win of the season on Wednesday. This will be the first meeting between UNA and Tennessee State in four years.
UNA faces the Lady Tigers in the Gentry Center. Tickets are available for purchase through Tennessee State's ticket office. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be provided through SIDEARM.

NOTES
LAST TIME OUT: UNA got off to a 3-0 start this season, but recently dropped its first contest of the season in an 89-61 setback to No. 6 Oklahoma. Playing one of the tougher opponents in the SEC, UNA's defense held Oklahoma to 28.6 percent shooting in the second half and outscored the Sooners 18-16 in the fourth quarter.
SCOUTING THE LIONS: Through four games, the Lions are shooting 37.3 percent in field-goal percentage while holding opponents to 32 percent shooting. UNA also holds slight advantages in three-point shooting percentage (.264 to .235), rebounds (173-170) and steals (36-33). North Alabama's strong suit has come in assists and blocks, leading 56-36 in assists and 20-12 in blocks. The Lions have been a strong third quarter with 60 points across four games compared to 44 points from opponents.
LOCKING UP: North Alabama's defense has been a high mark early this season, ranking third among ASUN teams in scoring defense with 59.8 per game. The Lions additionally rank in the top three in opponent field-goal percentage (second/.320 percent), opponent three-point field goal percentage (second/.235 percent), blocks (second/five per game) and steals (third/nine per game).
MCNAMARA MAKES WAVES: Junior Cameron McNamara leads the team through four games with 12.3 points per game on 54.5 percent shooting. She also is tied for the team lead in rebounding with 5.8 RPG. She led in points (13), rebounds (10), assists (4) and steals (3) in her first UNA game against UT Martin, following up with a 15-point, six-rebound effort against Fisk. McNamara secured a second-straight 15-point outing versus Jacksonville State. The junior is also one of the more consistent free-throw shooters in the conference, averaging 86.7 percent to rank fifth.
SOFIA SHINES: Sophomore Sofia Ceppellotti has burst onto the scene through three games with 11.7 points per game. She leads the team in three-point percentage (42.9 percent) and second in scoring, rebounds (6.3 per game), field-goal percentage (52 percent) and made three pointers (six). The Italy native had a near-double-double effort against UT Martin with 11 points and nine rebounds while going 3-5 behind the arc. She had a career day against Fisk, scoring a career-high 16 points with a game-high seven rebounds.
RIGHT UP HER ALLEY: Senior Alexsandra Alvarado is UNA's current three-pointers made leader with 10 at an efficient 40 percent shooting. She's also North Alabama's third leading scorer with 11.3 points per game. Alvarado has scored in double figures for the past three games, including a 14-point outing on 50 percent shooting last time out against No. 6 Oklahoma. She's third in the conference in three-point percentage and fourth in three-pointers made per game (2.5).
BIG-GAME BUKKY: Graduate Bukky Akinsola has shown veteran leadership in multiple parts of the game. Averaging 5.8 points per game, Akinsola has made her mark in the playmaking and defense category. She has the team-high in total assists (12) and steals (eight) on the season. The New Jersey native is tied for fourth in the ASUN with 2.0 steals per game.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE STATE: Tennessee State enters the contest looking for its first win of the season at 0-4. Last time out, the Lady Tigers fell to UT Arlington, 78-58, on Nov. 14. Tennessee State finished the 2024-25 season with a 10-21 overall record, a 6-14 Ohio Vally Conference record and a first-round appearance in the OVC Tournament. The Lady Tigers were picked to finish eighth in the 2025-26 OVC Preseason Poll. Somah Kamara leads Tennessee State in scoring with 12 points per game. The Lady Tigers are coached by Candice Dupree.
SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and Tennessee State meet for the fifth time with the series tied at two wins each. The Lady Tigers won the last meeting on Nov. 23, 2021 with a 83-71 victory in CB&S Bank Arena.
