JACKSONVILLE (March 6, 2025) – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced the 2025 postseason awards for women's basketball Thursday morning, with senior guard Charity Gallegos receiving a Third Team All-ASUN selection.
Gallegos's ASUN postseason accolade saw the senior play in all 29 contests for North Alabama, starting in 28. She averaged 14.3 PPG on 39.6 percent shooting, while shooting 36.4 percent from three (59-162) and 79.5 percent on free throws (66-83).
The senior scored in double digits in all but six games, with a season and career high 32 points against Bellarmine on Jan. 2. Gallegos finished the season with two 30+ point games, four 20+ point games and 17 double-digit games. Her prolific scoring also saw her surpass 1,500 career points, achieving the feat in the Lions' home win versus Queens on Jan. 30.
She was the Lions' primary playmaker, securing five or more assists in 10 games with a season-high nine assists against Alabama A&M on Dec. 17, 2024.
A mainstay on the ASUN statistical leaderboards, Gallegos ranked third in assist/turnover ratio (1.4), fourth in assists (3.9 per game), seventh in scoring, seventh in three-point field goals per game (2.0) and ninth in field-goal percentage. Gallegos also averaged the fourth-most minutes in the ASUN with 32.7 (948 total).
The senior earned four ASUN weekly honors during the season, first being named the ASUN Conference's Player and Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 30, 2024. She repeated the feat on March 3, 2025, becoming the program's first two-time Player of the Week honoree since Emma Wallen on March 2, 2020. Her two Player of the Weeks also marked the first time since 2019-20 season that UNA won the honor more than once during the season (Ivy Wallen).
The awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.
FGCU's Emani Jefferson was voted the ASUN Player of the Year for the second-straight season. Central Arkansas's Bree Stephens was voted Defensive Player of the Year, and Stetson's Cameron Thomas was selected as the Newcomer of the Year.
FGCU Head Coach Chelsea Lyles took home Coach of the Year honors after leading the Eagles to first-place finish in her first season. Anovia Sheals from Austin Peay was named Sixth Man of the Year, while Sa'Mya Wyatt of Austin Peay took home Freshman of the Year.
Gallegos and the Lions turn their attention next to the 2025 ASUN Tournament, facing Lipscomb in the quarterfinals on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m.
