JACKSONVILLE (March 6, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team received its first postseason honor of the 2024-25 season, with the Atlantic Sun Conference naming junior forward India Howard to the Academic All-ASUN Team Thursday morning.

Howard earns her first ASUN honor after her selection to the eight-player academic team, which is voted on by the league's sports information directors and academic representatives. She is majoring in Engineering Technology with a 3.92 GPA

The honor marks the second-straight season North Alabama has been represented on the academic team and third time overall. Junior Rhema Pegues was selected for the 2023-24 team, and former Lion Olivia Noah received the program's first distinction in 2020-21.

In Howard's second season with the Lions, she played in 28 games with 20 starts and averaged 8.2 PPG on 50.5 percent shooting. Howard also was a force in the rebounding department, averaging 7.3 RPG to finish eighth in the ASUN.

Howard scored in double figures 12 times, including a season-high 16 points versus Central Arkansas on March 1, and she registered double-digit rebounds in eight games, including a season-high 17 vs. Stetson on Jan. 16. The Coppell, Texas native had five of North Alabama's seven double-doubles on the year.

Defensively, the junior made her mark by ranking third in the ASUN with 1.5 blocks per game. Her 43 total blocks also ranked her third among the top 10. She had 11 games with two or more blocks, including tying her career high with six against FGCU on Feb. 22, 2025.

Howard and the Lions have their sights next on the 2025 ASUN Tournament, facing Lipscomb in the quarterfinals on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m.
