GLENCOE, Ala. (March 9, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team opened the three-day Chris Banister Golf Classic in chilly, windy and rainy conditions on Sunday at RTJ Silver Lakes in Glencoe, Ala.
The Lions sit in fifth place of seven teams after day one at 29-over-par 317. Despite the standing, UNA is just seven strokes away from second place Richmond, four strokes off Murray State in third and two strokes behind Samford in fourth.
Of 43 players in the field, UNA has three in the lineup and one individual inside the top 20. Senior Jahnavi Prakhya and freshman Olivia Whittle tied for 14th at six-over. Prakhya had three birdies, including a pair of par fours on holes 7 and 13. Whittle also birdied on 13 and finished with 11 pars.
One stroke behind the three-way tie was senior Hannah Dees at seven-over. Dees also had 11 pars in a steady showing. Redshirt sophomore Kerigan Klauber played as an individual and was also seven-over with two birdies on the front nine.
Site host Jacksonville State leads at 10-over-par 298.
The Lions return to action tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
