OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. (April 14, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team completed the second round of the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in Huntsville at RTJ Hampton Cover on Monday, staying put in seventh place of 12 teams at 39-over-par 615.
The Lions are the only team who stayed put on the leaderboard in round two, as five teams moved down and six moved up from their day one position. However, UNA's top three all moved up the individual leaderboard in round two.
True freshman Sirichaya Chanpen was the highlight performer for UNA, carding a three-over-par 75 to match her first round and move up to 12th place. Chanpen was strong in the front nine, recording three birdies to start two-under before ending three-over.
Senior Hannah Dees sits 22nd overall with a 77 in round two, putting her at nine-over just three strokes back of Chanpen. Her fellow senior, Jahnavi Prakhya, improved eight spots with a 78 in the second round. Each senior had a pair of birdies, including impressive two-stroke holes on 16.
Redshirt sophomore Kerigan Klauber rounds out the top four in a tie with Prakhya at 12-over for the tournament. Freshman Elsa Maren Steinarsdottir rounds out the lineup at 22-over.
Lipscomb leads heading into the final round at 16-over, followed by Stetson at 25-over and FGCU at 26-over. UNA sits eight strokes back of fourth place, which is occupied by both Austin Peay and Central Arkansas. EKU is sixth place at 33-over — six strokes up on UNA.
The Lions have a narrow two-stroke lead on eighth place North Florida, a three-stroke lead on Jacksonville and a four-stroke lead on both Queens and West Georgia. Bellarmine is well behind the pack in 12th — 23 strokes behind UNA.
UNA owns the fourth-most birdies through two rounds with 24 as a team. Chanpen has one-third of those birdies with eight, ranking fourth among the field.
The final round tees off tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. UNA's first golfer will be Steinarsdottir at 7:30 a.m. The Lions will pair up with North Florida and Jacksonville in the final round. All UNA golfers will start on hole 10.
