Women’s Tennis caps weekend at Ragin’ Cajun Hidden Duals

Lions take 17 wins in opening fall slate

LAFEYETTE, La. (September 21, 2025) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team concluded the weekend's Ragin' Cajun Hidden Duals to open the fall season on Saturday, Sept. 20 with 17 victories in Lafayette, La.

The two-day event saw the Lions take on host Louisiana, along with action against McNeese and Louisiana Tech. Day one resulted in eight wins on Friday, and day two saw improved results with nine total victories.


The opening day saw two singles bouts against McNeese and Louisiana with a double's matchup against Louisiana Tech.

Against the Cajuns, junior Emma Ansorge and freshman Farrah Asaad claimed victories. Ansorge defeated Rocio Navarro, 6-3, 6-2, and Asaad beat Nina Krecklenbert, 7-6.


The McNeese singles match saw four Lions secure wins.


Ansorge continued on with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Leana Gomez. Junior Mathilde Delaney earned a singles win with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph over Erica Hagi. Freshman Sammie Schouten defeated Ana Hollweg, 6-3, 6-3, and senior Senem Ocal was victorious over Naomi Hagi, 6-3, 6-1.

The lone doubles bout on day one resulted in two victories over Louisiana Tech. Delaney and Schouten beat the Bulldogs' Mio Kozaki and Nina Skoric, 6-3. Ansorge and Asaad earned a win against Maria Tsironi and Isabella Walker, 6-4.


Day two began with two doubles win against the Cajuns.


Juniors Louise Booker and Eeva Ristola teamed up to defeat Angelique Berrat and Safia Zenbi, 6-4. Delaney and Schouten were once again victorious with a 6-4 triumph over Krecklenburg and Marilou Bressan.


Doubles continued against McNeese, leading to another two wins for the Lions. Booker and Ristola stayed hot with a 6-4 win over E. Hagi and Gomez. The second victory came from Delaney and Schouten with a 6-4 triumph over Tsironi and N. Hagi.


Singles action against Louisiana Tech resulted in a dominant five wins for UNA. Ristola led off with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Skoric, and Ansorge beat Diana Starodubtseva in a comeback, 4-6, 7-5, 10-7.


Delaney defeated Kozaki with a strong display, 6-1, 6-1. Booker nabbed her lone singles win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Isabella Walker. The final UNA came courtesy of Ocal with a triumph over Alice Brook, 1-6, 6-3, 10-4.

The women's tennis fall season continues in October with the Lions traveling to Nashville for the Lipscomb Fall Invitational from Oct. 3-5.
