A former player under Coach Brent Dearmon, DeeAndra Ervin joined the UNA defensive staff in March 2025 as the safeties coach.
Ervin most recently worked at Oklahoma Baptist University as the defensive backs and returners coach. Before beginning his coaching career, Ervin was an all-conference performer at Arkansas Tech and Colorado Mesa from 2017-21. While playing at Arkansas Tech, he spent two seasons with Dearmon, who was across the ball as offensive coordinator.
As a player, Ervin was the 2016 Special Teams MVP at Arkansas Tech and earned back-to-back all-conference honors in 2019 while at Arkansas Tech and 2020 at Colorado Mesa. He owns claim to all-conference honors from both the Great American Conference (GAC) and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
Ervin started his coaching career as a varsity defensive backs coach and returners coach at Grand Junction High School in Colorado from 2021-24. He also served as a special education teacher while at GJHS. He then spent one season at the college level working with defensive backs and returners at Oklahoma Baptist in 2024.
Ervin also has Mobile ties, as he is a 2013 graduate of Fairhope High School in Daphne, Ala.
He graduated from Arkansas Tech with a degree in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies in 2019 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Colorado Mesa in 2022.
