A former NFL and Arena Football League wide receiver, Tiger Jones joined the UNA staff in January 2025 as the Director of Football Performance.
Jones is from the Mobile area, where he played at St. Paul's Episcopal School and went on to a successful college career at Louisville. He played for the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles and also enjoyed an eight-year career in the AFL. As a strength and conditioning coach, Jones has worked at Alabama, Texas A&M, Louisiana, Arizona and Florida. He was most recently working with Alabama's football, track and field and cross country programs.
His coaching career began in 2006 with Titan Athletics, where he worked until 2012 coaching football and speed skills for a wide range of ages from elementary to professional. He then went to Alabama in 2013 to work with football, women's soccer and track & field. He left for Texas A&M in 2016, then took a head assistant strength and conditioning position at Louisiana in 2018, then an assistant position at Arizona in 2021. He spent 2022-23 at Florida as the director of speed improvement and head assistant for S&C, then spent the 2024 season at Alabama for his second stint.
As a successful Arena Football player, Jones was on the AFL All-Rookie team. He went on to become a three-time All-AFL First Team and two-time All-AFL Second Team selection. Jones is third in all-time receiving yards for the AFL, fourth in all-time receptions and sixth in all-time touchdowns.
Jones completed his Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration from Louisville in 2004. He was a four-year letterman for the Cardinals from 2000-04.
