With more than 35 years experience as a strength and conditioning trainer, Steve Herring joined the University of North Alabama as head strength and conditioning coach in 2017.
Herring works the with the student-athletes from all 14 of UNA's athletic teams.
A 1985 UNA graduate with a B.S. in Management and Marketing, Herring most recently served as strength and conditioning coach at Deshler High School in 2015, after nine years in a similar position at Florence High School. Herring has also managed and operated The Edge Sports Performance training facilities in three locations since 2004.
Herring has received numerous certifications, including CSCS Certification, Bigger Faster Stronger Certification, ISSA Strength and Conditioning Certification, University of Mississippi Strength and Conditioning Program and the Nautilus Master Trainer Program. He has also trained under Scott Cochran of the University of Alabama, Johnny Long of the University of Tennessee and Greg Shepard of the Utah Jazz, who founded Bigger Faster Stronger.
