Biography

UNA 2017: Nelson was one of two players to start all 52 games last season...batted .350 with a .416 on-base percentage at the leadoff spot...recorded a team-high 180 at-bats with 63 hits, including eight doubles, two triples and a home run...also led the team with 12 stolen bases...drove in 20 runs...had a team-leading 18 multiple-hit games notching four games with three hits...had a 10-game hitting streak and also reached base in 13 straight games...went 3-for-4 with two RBI on Feb. 23 at Miles...represented the Alabama Stars over the summer in an exhibition game against Team USA, where she recorded two hits.

UNA 2016: She played and started in 65 games for the Lions in 2016...batting leadoff, she was 79-of-217 (.364) at the plate with 11 doubles, a team-high four triples, one home run and 25 RBI...set a new school record with 75 runs scored on the year...was 21-of-23 in stolen base attempts...had 22 multiple-hit games and was second on the team with six three-hit games on the year...was 3-for-4 with three RBI on Feb. 17 at Stillman.

UNA 2015: She saw action in 38 games with 17 starts in the outfield as a true freshman in 2015...batted .192 on the year with seven RBI...was 7-for-7 in stolen bases

HIGH SCHOOL: She played at Central High School for coach Laura Ledgewood...helped the Wildcats make four regional and three state appearances at the Class 4A level, reaching as high as third place during the 2013 season...was a three-time all-area and four-time all-county selection...received first team All-State honors during her junior and senior seasons...set a school record with 60 stolen bases during her junior season.

PERSONAL: Her full name is Bailey Mackenzie Nelson. She was born on August 7, 1996. She is the daughter of Phillip and Michelle Nelson and has one sister, Megan. She is majoring in elementary education at UNA.
