Biography

UNA 2017: Sanders saw action in 40 games for the Lions last season, including 38 starts at catcher and designated player...she batted .308 on the year with six doubles and six home runs...drove in 25 runs and scored 20 times...had 11 multiple-hit games...went 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBI on Feb. 18 at West Georgia.

HIGH SCHOOL: She played for coach Sam Brown at West Morgan High School...played third base, catcher and also pitched for the Class 3A Rebels...helped lead the team to three area championships, six regional tournament appearances and a third-place finish at the 2014 state tournament...was an All-State selection in 2015 and also played in the AHSAA North/South All-Star Game...was a two-time (2015 & 2016) Decatur Daily Player of the Year...set a school record with 39 career home runs.

PERSONAL: Her full name is Sydney Kathleen Sanders. She is the daughter of Rob and Kelly Sanders. She was born on October 17, 1997 and has two brothers. She is majoring in exercise science at UNA.
