Biography
UNA 2019: Ellwanger was one of three players to see action in all29 matches for UNA last season...she recorded 118 kills, pushing her over 500 for her career...averaged 1.28 kills per set and added 63 digs and 27 total blocks...had a season-high 12 kills on Sept. 7 at UAB.
UNA 2018: She played in 24 matches with 21 starts for the Lions in 2018...led the team with 210 kills, averaging 2.44 kills per set...also reached triple digits in digs after playing all six rotations...finished the year with 130 digs, 10 assists, 14 service aces and 20 total blocks...reached double figures in kills 10 times, including a career-high 16 kills on Sept. 1 during a 3-0 win over UNC-Asheville.
UNA 2017: She started 28 matches as a true freshman for UNA in 2017...saw action in 32 total matches with 193 kills and a 1.89 per-set average...was second on the team with 23 service aces and also notched 200 digs (1.96 digs per set) and 14 assists...was named GSC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 12 after totaling 45 kills in four matches.
HIGH SCHOOL: She prepped for coach Lynn Avant at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, South Carolina...received All-State honors as the Rams won a 2016 regional championship...helped lead the team to four regional titles, along with AAAA state titles 2012 and 2013, and a state runner-up finish in 2014...received consecutive all-region honors as a junior and a senior...was also a 2016 SC Coaches Association of Women's Sports All-State selection.
PERSONAL: Her full name is Christina Marie Ellwanger. She is the daughter of Jill and James Waters. She was born on November 12, 1998 and has one brother and two sisters. She is majoring in professional biology at UNA.
