VALDOSTA, Ga., – For the second time in three games, Valdosta State's Caitlyn Calhoun shut down the North Alabama bats, recording a two-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory that completed a three-game sweep Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference softball action. The loss leaves UNA with a 16-4 overall record and 5-3 mark in GSC play.
Second-ranked VSU (21-2 overall, 10-1 GSC) got its lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning. An RBI-double by Chelsea Canara scored Jennifer Phillips for the game's only run. It was one of only three hits allowed by North Alabama's Hillary Carpenter (8-2), who was stuck with the loss.

North Alabama will now turn its attention to its next three-game GSC series next weekend against Christian Brothers. The Lions will host a double-header against CBU on March 14 at 4 p.m. with a single game scheduled for 1 p.m. the following day.
