HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – North Alabama manged just five hits and was shutout for the first time this season as the Lions dropped the final game of a Gulf South Conference series at Alabama-Huntsville, 6-0. With the loss, UNA falls to 15-17 overall and 8-13 in the GSC. UAH improved to 22-13 and 14-7.
The Chargers got a run in the bottom of the first inning and added another in the second, two in the fifth and two in the seventh.
UNA starter
Todd Gibson (2-5) battled into the seventh inning in taking the loss and allowed six runs on 10 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Blake Talley pitched the final one and a third innings and gave up two hits.
Heath McRae (5-1) got the win for UAH, allowing no runs on five hits over eight and two-thirds innings.
Heath Wood led UNA with two hits.
The Lions will try end a nine-game losing skid on Wednesday when UNA hosts Spring Hill in a double-header at Mike Lane Field at 2 p.m. UNA will also host a three-game weekend GSC series against Mississippi College.
