PENSACOLA, Fla. --
Devan Traglia fired a nine-inning, complete-game as the University of North Alabama downed West Florida 6-2 to give the Lions their first Gulf South Conference series win in Pensacola since 2006.
Traglia, now 2-0, threw his first complete-game of the season, scattering seven hits. He walked four and struckout two.
The Lions and Argonauts split a double-header Saturday and Sunday's win pushes UNA's record to 12-6 overall and 7-2 in the GSC. The Lions are tied for first place in the GSC with Union. West Florida is now 9-8 overall, 5-4 in the GSC.
UNA has won all three its 2017 GSC series, downing West Georgia 3-0, Shorter 2-1 and West Florida 2-1.
North Alabama got a run in the first inning when
Davis Elliott singled and later scored on a double by
Kyle Hubbuch.
The Argonauts tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth on a walk and two singles and the game remained tied until the sixth.
The Lions scored four runs on four hits and an error in the sixth to make it 5-1.
Drake Tucker sing,
Peyton Sockwell and
Ben Cooley all singled to load the bases. A ground ball by
Chris Blakey was misplayed allowing two runs to score.
Logan Carter drove in another run on a fielder's choice and Hubbuch added an RBI-single.
West Florida got one run back in the bottom of the sixth but UNA added a run in the seventh to extend the lead back to four runs. Sockwell singled, was sacrificed to second and scored on a
T.J. Lockett single.
Sockwell led UNA's 11-hit attack with three and Hubbuch and Lockett added two each.
North Alabama plays at LeMoyne-Owen Wednesday.
