JACKSON, Tenn. -- The University of North Alabama baseball team held its spot in second place in the Gulf South Conference standings with a double-header sweep of the Union Bulldogs, 6-5 and 6-0. The sweep gives UNA its eighth series win in nine total GSC series this season.
With the wins, UNA improves to 26-15 overall and 17-9 in the GSC. Union is now 26-14 overall and 15-10 in conference play.
In the opener, UNA saw a 4-2 lead disappear in the bottom of the eighth inning but then rallied to pull out a 6-5 win in the ninth. In the nightcap, UNA starter 
Lane Wallace threw a complete-game, three-hit shutout against the Bulldogs.
North Alabama took a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the opener. 
T.J. Lockett walked and later scored on a 
Drake Tucker ground-out. 
Kyle Hubbuch then singled and 
Peyton Sockwell reached on an error. which scored Hubbuch. 
Logan Carter's RBI-single made it 3-0.
Union got single runs in the fourth and sixth innings off UNA starter 
Tyler Joyner. The Lions then pushed their advantage to 4-2 in the top of the eighth as Hubbuch doubled and scored on a 
Tate Mathis RBI-triple.
In the bottom of the eighth, Union got a single and a walk off Joyner and he was relieved by UNA closer 
Channing Wall. Wall gave up a bunt single then threw a wild pitch, allowing one run to score. Back-to-back bases on balls brought in another run to tie the game at 4-4 and Union took the lead on a sacrifice fly.
In the top of the ninth, 
Brandt Holland drew a lead-off walk and 
Conner Kiser reached on an error. Lockett singled to load the bases and Tucker tied the game with a sacrifice fly. Hubbuch the delivered an RBI-single to put UNA back on top, 6-5.
Wall (2-1) pitched a scoreless ninth to get the win.
UNA jumped on top in game two, scoring single runs in the first, second and third innings. Lockett doubled in the first and scored on a Tucker RBI-single. 
Ben Cooley then hit a solo home run in second and 
Davis Elliott hit a solo homer in the third to make it 3-0.
In the sixth, Mathis reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch to push it to 4-0.
The Lions added two insurance runs in the seventh. Hubbuch walked and later scored on an error. 
Peyton Sockwell then singled and scored on a Mathis RBI-single.
Wallace (4-4) got the win, pitching seven complete innings, allowing just three hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
The Lions and Bulldogs play the final game of the series Saturday at 1 p.m.
