HILLSIDE, N.J. -- The University of North Alabama will face NJIT in the semifinal round of the 2018 ASUN Conference Women's Soccer Championships Sunday (October 28) at 1:30 p.m. Central. The match was originally scheduled for noon.
Playing in its first season in Division I and the ASUN, UNA downed Kennesaw State 2-1 Friday in the quarterfinal round of the ASUN Tournament to advance second seeded NJIT. The Highlanders had a first round bye.
The two teams played to a 0-0 tie on the same field last Sunday in the regular-season finale for both schools.
The winner of the UNA-NJIT semifinal match will advance to meet the winner of the Nashville bracket that includes No. 1 Lipscomb and No. 4 Flordia Gulf Coast. That championship match will be on November 3 and will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
North Alabama, 10-8-1, could win the ASUN championship but the Lions are not eligible to advance to the NCAA Tournament since the Lions are in their first year of a four-year transition into NCAA Division I.
NJIT has an 11-4-2 overall record and is also making its first appearance in the ASUN Tournament.
