MONTGOMERY, Ala.-- The University of North Alabama scored six runs in the top of the first inning and rolled to a 10-6 non-conference road win over Auburn-Montgomery.
The Lions, now 16-10 overall, dropped AUM's record to 11-13.
Davis Elliott drew a walk to begin the first inning rally and scored on a
Kyle Hubbuch RBI-double.
Brandt Holland walked and Ben Colley was hit-by-pitch to load the bases.
Peyton Sockwell walked to force in a run and
Reid Homan and
Kevin Brenning followed with two-run doubles each to make it 6-0.
After AUM got a run in the bottom of the first off UNA starter
Austin Nichols, Holland hit his fourth home run in four days to make it 7-1.
The Warhawks got a run in the second and two in the third to close the gap to 7-4 before the Lions plated three more runs in the top of the sixth. Hubbuch and Holland singled and Sockwell's RBI-single made it 8-4. A sacrifice fly from Homan and a Peyton Thomas RBI-single made it 10-4.
AUM got a run back in the bottom of the sixth, drawing a bases loaded walk from reliever
Kaleb Barnes to make it 10-5.
Nick Cummings, the fourth UNA pitcher of the day, gave up a run in the eighth to cut the Lions' lead to 10-6.
Nichols pitched 3.0 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Bryant Claunch (2-0) got the win, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts. Barnes pitched only one third of an inning and walked three batters. Cummings pitched two innings and allowed one run on one hit.
Channing Wall pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the win.
Hubbuch, Holland, Homan, Brenning and Thomas had two hits each for UNA.
UNA hosts a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Mississippi College on Saturday and Sunday.
