FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama has made an adjustment in its weekend baseball schedule with the Lions now playing a single game on Friday at 5 p.m. at Mike Lane Field and a 1:00 p.m. double-header on Saturday.
The Lions host Delta State in a key battle in both team's pursuit of a Gulf South Conference Championship. Delta State comes into the weekend with a 32-7 record and the Statesmen lead the GSC standings with an 18-4 record. North Alabama is the hottest team in the GSC with a current 10-game winning streak that has seen the Lions improve to 32-12 overall and 18-6 in league play.
With just six conference games remaining, the winner of the weekend series will have the upperhand to claim the regular-season title and host the conference tournament on May 5-8.
Prior to the Saturday double-header, UNA will honor the members of its 1993 GSC Championship baseball team at 12:45. The Lions will then recognize the 11 senior members of the 2018 team immediately following the conclusion of Saturday's first game.
UNA will close its regular season on April 28-29 in Huntsville against UAH.
