HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --
Davis Elliott hit a grand slam in the fourth inning but it wasn't enough as North Alabama dropped its regular-season baseball finale 6-5 at Alabama-Huntsville.
The Lions close the regular season with a 31-17 overall record and a 19-11 Gulf South Conference slate. UNA will be seeded fifth in the upcoming GSC Baseball Tournament on May 5 in Cleveland, Miss.
On Sunday, UAH got a run in the second inning and added five more in the third for a quick 6-0 lead on the Lions. UNA closed the gap to 6-4 in the fourth on Elliott's grand slam. It was Elliott's first home run of the season and came after
Kyle Hubbuch singled,
Brandt Holland was hit-by-pitch and
Tate Mathis walked.
In the seventh,
Kevin Brenning doubled and he scored on a Holland RBI-single to make it 6-5.
Shane Priest (6-3) took the loss for UNA, allowing six runs on eight hits over three innings of work.
Josh Stillman pitched four and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief and
Channing Wall came on to record the final out of the eighth inning.
UNA was out-hit 13 to eight in the contest.
