Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville scored four runs in the first inning and went on to a 10-5 win over North Alabama in the final game of a three-game ASUN Conference baseball series.
North Alabama won the first two games of the series on Friday and Saturday before dropping Sunday's contest. UNA is now 9-26 overall and 4-8 in ASUN play.
After scoring four runs in the first inning, Jacksonville added two more in the fourth for a 6-0 lead. UNA chipped away with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth but the Dolphins answered with two runs of their own in the seventh and two in the eight for a 10-3 advantage. The Lions got two runs back in the top of the ninth inning but came up short.
UNA starter
Colin Chamblin (1-5) did not record an out in the first inning, walking a batter and allowing four runs on four hits before being pulled. He took the loss.
Adam Mancour pitched three complete innings and gave up two runs on four hits,
Hunter Davidson pitched three and two-thirds and allowed two runs on two hits and
Keegan Foge allowed two runs on two hits in an inning and a third.
UNA's first run came in the fifth when
Reid Singewald singled, stole second and later scored on a
Reid Homan ground-out.
In the sixth,
Harris Kain doubled,
Davis Elliott was hit-by-pitch and
Kevin Brenning singled in Kain. A
Ben Kiefer ground-out scored Elliott to make it 6-3.
In the UNA ninth, Homand and
Drew Hudson singled and Homan then scored on the back-end of a double steal. Hudson later scored on a passed ball for the Lions' final run.
UNA hosts Alabama State Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Mike Lane Field.
